THE INTERVIEW

Written by Boston Women’s Market & Alice Wang

Boston Women’s Market: Can you tell us a bit about what led you to begin your journey with D&Y Jewellry? Was there an aha! Moment?

Alice Wang: I have always believed that beautiful things deserve to be seen, felt, and experienced by more people. With this vision in mind, I founded this company, hoping that through our efforts, we can bring unique value and beauty to a wider audience. Whether it’s through our products, services, or ideas, we strive to bring warmth and innovation to the world, allowing everyone to find resonance and inspiration. This is not just a business—it is a mission.

BWM: How have you continued to manage the growth of the company, while also finding time and ways to invest in yourself?

Alice: Make the most of your free time by continuously learning, combining your professional knowledge with the exploration of new fields. Strive to excel in your job while also building your company, growing through practice. Never give up on learning, as it is not only a way to improve yourself but also the key to creating more possibilities.

BWM: Our Members are often just beginning to grow their business, and many are interested in learning from other successful businesswomen. What key pieces of insight have you learned from launching your business?

Alice: Learn from others' operational strategies and service philosophies, while also exploring appropriate promotional methods.

BWM: With the business acumen you have now, what's one piece of advice you wish you could tell yourself five years ago?

Alice: Try various promotional methods actively while maintaining reasonable control over operational costs.

BWM: We think the stories of failure are just as important as the stories of success. Can you talk about a time that you failed in an entrepreneurial venture or objective? How did you face and overcome this failure? What was the lesson learned?

Alice:  I once experienced a product selection failure. I didn’t conduct proper market research and relied solely on my own ideas, which resulted in poor sales. This experience taught me the importance of market data and understanding customer needs. In the future, I will focus more on research and analysis to make more informed and rational decisions.

BWM: Do you have a favorite go-to business tool or resource you can recommend to our members?

Alice: Social media videos are very effective for promotion.for example, facebook, ins.
